Are you hungry or emotional?

Don't always turn to food in a crisis!

Next time you feel like eating a chocolate...you need to ask yourself "What is this about?"

You see, real hunger comes on slowly, and is usually satisfied by any tasty food,on the other hand cravings/anxieties tend to appear suddenly, either during or right after an emotional event.

Once you find out that you're craving (rather than needing) food, how do you stop yourself from reaching that little cupcake next to you?

Well, the answer starts in your brain because up to now we've been told by great nutritionists to use distractions such as hot baths or brushing our teeth when cravings come. But anyone who's needed the confort only a Mars chocolate can give will understand that a bubble bath just doesn't deletes it.

That's why by self-questioning: What's this about? What stressed me out?
Before you turn to food and even if you can't find an immediate solution for your problem, you can get in touch with the reason that keeps you hiding from your own emotions by eating, and learn to use targeted,non-food ways of dealing with emotions.

The more we use food as a "friend",the less we turn to other, healthier self-soothing options such as talking things out and then emotional eating becomes a habit.

See this examples:
"I want..stodgy pasta (What's this about?) I feel lonely"
"I want..chocolate and coffee (What's this about?) I'm feeling sad and needy"

Learning to pause for thought before people eat something down makes a huge difference.
